Course Description

 

Graduates may find suitable employment in commercial and industrial construction. Pipe welders can be found working in refineries, power plants, chemical plants, gas and oil pipelines and many other areas. All areas of construction/industry safety, welding equipment set-up, welding equipment maintenance and welding procedures in SMAW and GTAW will be demonstrated, practiced and mastered.

• Safety and OSHA 10 Training

 

• Tool and Grinder Safety

 

• Oxy/Acetylene Torch Cutting • Welding Intro – terminology, plate preparations, weld positions and electrode types

 

• SMAW ER7018 in Flat, Horizontal and Vertical position

 

• SMAW “T” Joint Fillet Welds using ER6010 and ER7018 in the Horizontal 2F and 3F positions

 

• Air Carbon Arc Gouging • GMAW “T” Joint Fillet Welds using MIG in the Horizontal 2F, 3F and 4F positions

 

• FCAW “T” Joint Fillet Welds using Flux Core in the Horizontal 2F, 3F and 4F positions

 

• GMAW Butt Joint Groove Welds with backing using MIG in the Flat 1G, Horizontal 2G, Vertical 3G and Overhead 4G position

 

• FCAW Butt Joint Groove Welds without backing using Flux Core in the Flat 1G, Horizontal 2G, Vertical 3G and Overhead 4G position

 

• SMAW Butt Joint Groove Welds using ER6010 and ER 7018 in the Flat 1G, Horizontal 2G, Vertical 3G and Overhead 4G position

 

• SMAW Groove Welds on 2” and 4” Pipe using ER6010 and ER7018 in the 5G position

 

• SMAW Groove Welds on 2” Pipe using ER6010 and ER7018 in the 6G position

 

• SMAW Fillet Welds on socket weld fittings using ER7018 in the 2G and 5G positions

 

• GTAW Groove Welds on 4” and 2” Pipe using ER70S6 Filler Material in the 5G Position

 

• GTAW Groove Welds on 2” Pipe using ER70S6 Filler Material in the 2G and 6G
